'The Gift'
A little doodle of mine called 'The Gift'. I'm going to get back onto Intervention System things, but I've been busy busy, making my plans for world domination.

60s zombie
I love me a bit o' the brain munchers. Zombies themselves are incredibly popular right now, but I remember the old zombie films being some of the best, especially Romero's, and always found it funny to see zombies in the clothes of the time; the memory of zombies in flares in the original 1978 Dawn of the Dead springs to mind. I've always had a fear of 'turning' in my pyjamas and bunny slippers.

alien slime infection!
No week is complete without thinking about alien slime. Just a little illustration that came into my head. I actually used blue glitter pen but my computer isn't big on the bling so it's more like blue splodge. Lovin' me some splodge.
Don't use the machine!
Ah the price we pay for technology, sometimes I think if I use my laptop on my on top of my abdominal area in bed for more than an hour a day, that eventually my ovaries will become infused with radiation and either explode or give me superpowers.
So anyway, random girl art.

Sea princess possessed by a starfish
Well, hello there! Just had time to squeeze in my illustration of 'a sea princess possessed by a starfish' between pondering the philosophy of existentialism and watching youtube videos of cats putting their heads in boxes. My day fulfilled.
I'm going to work on some more Intervention System art soon, but in the mean time, you will be blessed with random doodles of things that pop into my head while I clean out the fridge. I found something that was once a vegetable leaf....it has since mutated into the next stage of vegetable evolution.

peewee and dark peewee
Hell yes! Go glitter pens! They don't show up well on the scanner but they're a bit blingier in the flesh. Also found out after my last doodle (that I didn't post) and much to my anguish, my scanner doesn't recognize neon markers. I've come to the conclusion that neon is a vampiric entity and while we can see it on our sketch pads, technology refuses to acknowledge it's ancient magical properties and therefore cannot come to terms with its existence.

Lucy is queen of moves
Clearly, the only reason why people laugh at me when I'm strutting my funky dance moves is because they're in awe. You know, like how people laugh after successful magic trick because they believe it to be impossible. They see my gyrating awesome and they think 'how can a mere mortal move with the spectacular grace of a mating goose?'. Some people are just blessed with the power of dance and others...aren't. Poor beasts.

environmental creature 3 - Sock
This is Sock. He be a rock monster and he be giving his look of "Why must life be so cruel.." either that or..."My Sky box didn't record Supernatural last night....it feels like my heart has been eaten by a swarm of diseased house flies". True story.
I may do a 4th creature or I may eat that month old haribo sweetie that's been staring at me from my bedside table. It grew a leg too.

something different
I'm drawing some little environmental-based creatures, not for the Intervention System, just for some fun art times. I want to make them my first clay project. I've never made anything with clay before. I can feel the fail in the air.
This is my first guy is a forest creature, he's called Wormwood, mostly because I like worms...from the wood...and they taste like chicken.

marker dabbling for my comic and thoughts
I've been asked by quite a few people recently what I intend to do with The Intervention System. It's been a bit difficult deciding because it started out as a personal art project that represented some of the themes in my life up to this point, heh, in the guise of weird little creatures. Hey, that's how I deal with things :)
So I've decided to do a comic book. Having little experience in this field, I'm kinda just going with how I think it should look and have written a little story, as an introduction to The System.
I'm doing it for myself but I would love other people to be interested, you know, people who like cute, quirky, sometimes creepy illustrations and those looking for a little more meaning than just the creatures themselves, but also with a little humour. I've done the first 4 pages so far, ha, a long way to go methinks.
Anyway, I was just drawing ideas and such and using my markerlove. This is an Interpreter and Gatherer in the office, I want their world to be quite organic, like a kind of living planet but also with technology powered by the planet. Watch this space for updates :)

Thoughts
I've just been thinking recently about little gestures, you know, just things that are said or done that have an impact on our lives even in the smallest of ways. Even though these people move on, grow up and eventually cease to be, we don't forget it. Most of the people who have positively influenced the way I think about the world will never even know how their words or actions changed me, they'll never get thanked for it, but they still made a difference. I'd like to think I will do that for someone else one day.
Gatherer and thoughts
Another Gatherer for The Intervention System. I'm thinking of having a page with descriptions and maybe another page for T.I.S art experiments on the same site. Because I'm grabbing new doodling implements and like to mix it up, there's less consistency. Maybe I'll just draw one image of each creature, standard colouring, style, perspective, like a bio, then have another page for the T.I.S character art in all it's forms.
Then again, I might just eat some pasta...

Ha! The doodle desk! I really need to start buying canvasses I can fit in the scanner, my camera ain't too great. I have so much crap lying around.

The Transporters
I've just drawn a little concept art for my Transporters as part of The Intervention System, (creatures that move between the human realm and The System realm, usually carrying distributors) I think they're fairly cute little guys but I may make them a bit more hmm.. creepy ... if I feel like it! Ahhh. The wonders of abundant paper and no rules! Hee hee!

Random doodle time!
I call this fella 'The Host'. He's a robot with an organism growing inside him. I did the initial pencil sketch first and then did a marker variant. It's so difficult to decide which tools to use because they all have such different effects. The common pencil was my first drawing tool when I was younger so I still love using it. Bloody difficult to clean up the paper though.

"Terror" Gatherer doodle
For some reason, I like drawing looks of terror. I'm not entirely sure why, but whenever I watch a film, it's always those moments when someone reacts to something awful that I remember the most. People would say I had a fixation with impending doom. It's true, especially when there's nothing you can do to stop it.
On a happier note I also love squiggles....and purple.

gatherer marker doodle
Oooh, loved getting the old black marker out for this fellow. Too much? Probably, but it fills my heart with black inky joy :D

First Interventionist doodle
You wouldn't know it to look at it, but it took me loads of scrap paper to finally be happy with the design for this creature. I'll go into the specifics of it when I finish writing it up, but it is a creature that transforms into other people all it's life in order to help them, so when it transforms back into it's original state, it loses it's identity and doesn't relate to the creature that it is. Because it hates the sight of it's own body, it wears a mask and cloak so it doesn't have see who it truly is. 'and how does that make you feel?' my imaginative psychologist asks me. :)

Idea for a vinyl toy!
Oooh I've submitted my first idea for a vinyl toy at ShouldBee where you vote for ideas to be made into figures. I'd love it to be made! Check it out at http://www.shouldbee.com/votes/designs/88

committee marker experiment
I love doing things black and white with a splash of colour! I do get carried away sometimes though. Heh heh, I just love filling areas with stuff! Perhaps that's why my bedroom is such a crowded mess. *sigh* An activity for another day methinks :D

committee member marker and fineliner
You know, sometimes it's nice to bring out the old promarkers again. I haven't been using them so much, because there are so many things to try! So I'm trying EVERYTHING! but you know, markers were pretty much the first thing I ever owned after a fineliner, so for nostalgia I like to have a wee play.
acrylic light and dark distributors
I actually got out my acrylic paints for the first time in AGES. It's so quick working with watercolour that I sometimes forget how much more time it takes to use acrylics. It has such a different look though. Scans pretty badly though. I got a bottle of gloss varnish for my Christmas, so I might try that to make it look more MMMM Shiny!!
